mr-jones

William W. Jones, IV,

was born and raised in Memphis, TN, and graduated with honors from Tipton-Rosemark Academy. After graduation, he attended the University of Mississippi on a full-paid scholarship, receiving a degree in Political Science with a minor in Philosophy and English. After College, Jones attended Mississippi College School of Law in Jackson, MS. He clerked for Attorney Gary L. Jewel during the summers and Attorney John Collette during the school year.

Jones received his Juris Doctorate Degree and was admitted to the Mississippi Bar in 2002 and the Tennessee Bar in 2003. After serving as an associate with the Jewel Law Firm for six years, Jones founded The Jones Law Firm.  In October of 2008, Jones and his wife purchased the building where the Law Firm is currently located.  Great time and expense went into the renovation of the new office and it is currently one of the most technologically advanced law offices in the Mid-South area.

Jones is a member of the Memphis, DeSoto, Tennessee, and Mississippi Bar Associations. Jones is a regular guest on the Drake & Zeke Morning Show. He was given the nickname “Lawyer Bill” and is constantly amazed at how many people know him from his appearances and emails on the show.  He appears on Drake & Zeke once a month for a segment called “Ask Lawyer Bill”, which is completely unscripted and allows Jones to showcase his knowledge of the law with a rapid fire Q & A from callers.  Jones has appeared three times on the public service law series “Legalese”.

His blog, Big Latin Words, has been featured on SALON.com. Additionally he was the focus of a piece for Memphis Lawyer Magazine, entitled the Mini Lawyer which discussed the technology that Jones takes advantage of in practicing law.

Jones married Mrs. Jennifer Jones after the death of her first husband. Together they raise their two children, Ethan Nicholson and William Jones V, in Olive Branch, MS, where they are members of Great Commission Church.  Having a stepson and step in-laws has given Jones keen insight into the family dynamics that his clients deal with on a day-to-day basis. Jones and his wife have attended and completed the Dave Ramsey Financial Peace University, and he consistently recommends it to both clients and friends. He employs many of the lessons that Dave Ramsey teaches in dealing with clients. Jones is such a believer in Mr. Ramsey’s principles that he offers to pay for any of his bankruptcy clients to attend the complete FPU course out of his own pocket. In his spare time, Jones enjoys playing poker, cheering for the Ole Miss Rebels, smoking ribs and shoulders, and working on his car.

Jones Law Firm offers services for bankruptcy, divorce, mediation services, prenuptial agreements, family law, adoption, juvenile court and more.

Mr. Jones recently began his second business which will merge two of his great passions, law and technology.  iLawyerApps offer reviews of mobile applications that can be used to achieve a better outcome for clients.  CLE's will also be offered to teach lawyers nationwide how to adapt these new technologies into their practice.  In addition Mr. Jones has formed a partnership with a local software company and is currently seeking ideas for development.

Arthur A. Byrd Jr.

Arthur A. Byrd Jr. is the first Associate Attorney hired at the Jones Law Firm. Mr. Byrd is a Memphis native who returned to the area in 2006 after a brief 15-year hiatus which included stops in Manchester, England and Kalamazoo, Michigan. He graduated from Western Michigan University with a degree in Business Management. Upon graduation he returned home to attend the Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law at the University of Memphis. He received his Juris Doctorate Degree and passed the Tennessee Bar Exam in the summer of 2010.

When Mr. Byrd is not serving your needs, he enjoys spending time with his girlfriend (a law student herself) and her young son. Mr. Byrd inspiration for entering the field of family law was his interaction the last 3 years guiding his sister and 5-year-old niece through the personal aspects of divorce, which has provided a solid understanding of the variety of roles and compassion that your attorney must have to truly represent your interests. He is all too familiar with what is at stake during this process.

When not home serving as both a law student mentor and a first grade tutor, he regularly attends Incarnation Catholic Church in Collierville. As an Associate Attorney, Mr. Byrd's free time is precious, but he still manages to enjoy golf, fantasy football and the performing arts when required. Mr. Byrd also supports the various city of Memphis sports teams. He is an avid University of Memphis football and basketball fan and enjoys the Memphis Grizzlies and Redbirds. He is a die-hard St. Louis Cardinals fan, making sure to attend games at least once a year with his father (and mother if she can be coerced into the trip).  Clients are urged to cheer for the Cardinals during this time of year when in his presence, as he tends to be slightly fanatical.

Erica Hudson- Paralegal / Family Law Team Leader / Seminar Coordinator

Ms. Hudson is the primary lead paralegal in family law matters for the Jones Law Firm.  She comes to us from a nationally known law firm specializing in personal injury and wrongful death litigation.  Her dealings with litigation of this type makes her a perfect fit for researching and finding income and assets in a family law setting.  Ms. Hudson grew up on a horse farm in Eads, TN, which may explain her passion for all things outdoors. She Graduated from Houston High school in 1996 and attended Ole Miss on full scholarship.  She graduated in 2000 with honors from the Harvard of the South, earning a Bachelor of Science in Family Sciences. Before meeting and marrying Mr. Hudson, she had to endure many of the problems that our clients deal with and can relate and sympathize with many of the concerns our clients will encounter on their own personal journey.  She currently resides in a suburb of Memphis with her two sons, Jack Henry and Josey, and her husband, David. When not working to achieve the best possible outcome for her clients, she enjoys gardening, Ole Miss Football, baking and the Discovery Channel.  Recently, both Mr. Byrd and Mr. Hudson have forced her into becoming an avid Cardinals fan as well.  She would be more than happy to schedule a consultation or enroll you in our next available Divorce Seminar.

Christopher Scott Jones - Client Communications Director / Technology Liaison / Office Manager  (Note:  Mr. Jones is currently attending Law School at Mississippi College School of Law)

Mr. Jones is biding his time at the Jones Law Firm until his acceptance into law school.  He graduated from Rosemark Academy and is a recent graduate of the University of Memphis earning a Bachelor of Science degree.  Mr. Jones has served as a liaison with Memphis In May, coordinating and planning aspects of the event.  This customer service background makes him the best first foot that we put forward.  He is the first voice clients will hear when they call our office and our clients couldn't be happier about that fact.  Mr. Jones has also served as a community activist and led a charge to save the historic High school structure at Rosemark Academy.  Because of his success in that endeavor, he was recently approached to lead a similar charge to stop a mining company from encroaching on the Rosemark Community.  Upon completion of Law School, Mr. Jones will join his brother in practicing law at the Jones Law Firm.  He currently resides in Lakeland, TN and in his spare time he enjoys University of Memphis Football & Basketball, Movies, Reading, The History Channel and exploring new computer technologies.  During his law school tenure, he will continue to answer client emails and work during his winter and summer hiates.
